Me
I’ve been taking black and white photographs since high school. Until recently I remained “old school”, using a Pentax M 35mm camera and mostly TMax black and white film. I just bought a digital SLR (a Nikon D40) and am making my first foray into the DSLR concept. (Although I have been using a regular point and shoot Fuji digital camera for about 6 years.)
I started concentrating on cemetery photography a few years ago when I noticed the serene beauty of these silent artworks. Cemeteries can be beautiful places, and as the years go by many of the older tombstones are being lost to weathering over time. I want to preserve them as best I can, through photography.
I took a trip to Salem in fall of 2005, specifically in order to take photographs of the Olde Burying Ground there. I also have a tattoo on my left arm of a traditional 17th century headstone, complete with rosettes and flying death’s head.
